sarahboot     Sarah Bird is the author of nine novels. Her latest is Above the East China Sea (Alfred Knopf, 2014).

Her mile-long list of accolades includes: winner of 2014 Texas Writer Award; selected for B&N’s Discover Great Writers series; an Alex Award nominee, New York Public Libraries Books to Remember; a Dobie-Paisano Fellow; a National Magazine Award; an Illumine Award for Excellence in Fiction winner; five time winner of Austin Chronicle’s Best Austin Author; and an inductee into the Texas Literary Hall of Fame.

Sarah has also been a Moth Radio Hour storyteller. She’s been a writer for O, The Oprah Magazine, NY Times Sunday Magazine and Op Ed columns, Real Simple, Mademoiselle, Glamour, Salon, Daily Beast, Ladies Home Journal, Good Housekeeping, MS, Texas Monthly; and Texas Observer; and a screenwriter for Paramount, CBS, Warner Bros, National Geographic, ABC, TNT, as well as several independent producers.

Sarah’s original screenplay, Daughter of a Daughter of a Queen is currently being developed by Pantheon of Women films and has made the finals for Meryl Streep’s writing competition. She lives in hipster heaven, Austin, Texas, with husband George, son Gabriel, and one totally cute Corgi, and is working on a novel she has vowed not to talk about.  But, we’ll see…. so, listen in Wednesday.
