Born in San Antonio, Michael is a poet/publisher of poets and owns and operates Virgogray Press, an independent Texas publisher. Virgogray follows “Do-It-Yourself” ethics to accomplish its goals, and is using this along with other grassroots efforts to crawl up the collective suits of corporate America. Virgogray Press is a proud publisher of chapbooks, and produces primarily poetry and sees the chapbook as a tool and vehicle for the independent voice: one with truth, passion and creativity at its root.

Virgogray publishes and promotes the spoken and written word. It support artists, poets and creative types who work from genuine places. Virgogray is interested in poetry, poets and writers from all walks of life; art and artists, individuals who not only think outside the box, but destroy the box and create their own foundation; those who see the folds of reality that we often forget in our daily, consuming lives; and desire the growth of expressionism as a means to supplement the brain food we don’t always have a chance to eat.

Virgogray Press began as a mission to give voice not only to the voiceless artist, but those without “scholastic honor” or “marketable favor” and as a result incredible things have happened and we’ve experienced poetry rich with the soul.

In December, Virgogray launched its own internet poetry forum, Carcinogenic Poetry which publishes on a rolling basis and is seeking all types of verse. Also, writers are welcome to send in their writing to our themed publications via the Virgogray Press Chapbook Anthology Series. The next chapbook in the series is entitled America Remembered and will be published in early 2010. Virgogray is seeking poetry and prose about the values and ideals that formulated the American way of life.

Michael’s newest books are entitled The Winter King and Green Tea America. He was recently the featured poet at the Hideout Theater on Congress Ave.
