About SEDUCED BY SOUND AUSTIN (Weeva, Inc., 2016)
A great song catches hold of us, but how does a songwriter catch hold of a great song? And why is it that so many great songs come out of Austin? To find out, music fan Kim Gorsuch, CEO of custom book publisher Weeva and musician Carley Wolf, guitarist and frontwoman for the band the Ghost Wolves, asked more than 100 local artists to talk about why and how they make music.
The result is Seduced by Sound: Austin a personal look at the Austin music scene through the eyes of the musicians who keep it thriving. In the book, established artists such as Alejandro Escovedo, as well as rising stars such as Sweet Spirit, share stories about what inspired them to start playing. They talk about their musical influences and how they write songs. And they offer insightful tips and lessons learned for musicians just starting out.
But Seduced by Sound: Austin is about more than what’s happening today. Along with radio hosts, club owners and other longtime friends of Austin music, musicians reflect on where the music scene has been and where it’s headed. The book also pays tribute to some of Austin’s music legends, including Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Stevie Ray Vaughan and more.
By weaving these stories together, Seduced by Sound: Austin becomes a look at the past, present and future of music in the Live Music Capital of the World.
The book includes a free download of 50+ songs from featured artists.
