Listen to the Interview.

Bill Durham is a native Texan, born in Texarkana and raised in Muleshoe. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a double major in Theatre Arts and English, and holds a Master’s Degree in English from New York University with a specialty in Creative Writing. His thesis adviser at NYU was E.L. Doctorow, who told Bill to write a contemporary Western. The novel Amarillo is the result of that suggestion. Bill also lived in Austin, where he taught English and Humanities at ACC and appeared on the stages of the Austin Shakespeare Festival and Vortex Repertory. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and step-daughter. He frequently appears in theatre productions and is a member of the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum company. He is writing a sequel to Amarillo.
