Luke Garza teaches courses in screenwriting and creative writing at Austin Community College and has also taught at other educational institutions such as the University of Texas and the Art Institute of Austin. He has also produced at the micro budget level, working as line producer on the horror exploitation film VAMPIRE WINTER and as associate producer, assistant editor and writer on the historical documentary ANDY PARIS: BUBBLEGUM KING.

Luke began his career as a story analyst for numerous film and cable companies, most notably HBO, Rat Entertainment (director Brett Ratner) and Phoenix Pictures (producer Mike Medavoy). Luke evaluated literally thousands of projects for potential development into feature films, TV movies and series, and critiqued the works of many high-profile screenwriters such as J.J. Abrams, David Mamet, Elmore Leonard and Ron Bass. Luke parlayed his development experience into a stint as associate producer for the Fox Network’s “Police Videos,” presently in worldwide syndication.

As a screenwriter, Luke has placed at the quarter, semi and finals levels in various contests, including 2nd place in the 2012 Cynosure Screenwriting Award for Diversity.

Luke has earned a Bachelor of Science in Radio-TV-Film and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Cinema-Television from the University of Southern California’s Graduate Screenwriting Program.
