Jeanine Kitchel has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and has been writing for publications for the past 30 years in Northern California and Mexico. Early on she wrote for newspapers, The Miami Herald, three Mexico City newspapers, and Fodor’s Travel Guide. As time progressed, she added websites that detail life and travel in Mexico and Central America. (planeta.com, mexicopremiere.com, belize.com, yucatanliving.com, mexconnect.com, sacbe.com, yucatantoday.com, escapeartist.com, livinginmexico.com, peoplesguidetomexico.com).

Kitchel lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area in publishing and sales until 1997 when her love for Mexico led her to a relaxed lifestyle in a small fishing village, Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

Her love of books prompted her to open a bookstore in Puerto Morelos, one of seven in the state and the only English language bookstore at the time. It soon became the largest English language bookstore from Mexico City south to Guatemala. Through its doors walked archeologists, tour guides, locals with amazing stories and itinerant travelers headed further south.

In 2003 Kitchel wrote a travel memoir, Where the Sky is Born: Living in the Land of the Maya. It details how she and her husband bought land, built a house and retired in Puerto Morelos.

Kitchel’s new book, Maya 2012 Revealed, Demystifying the Prophecy, sets a realistic tone for the 2102 end date debate. The book emphasizes who are the Maya, breaking the code, their calendar system, Maya astronomy and the night sky, 2012ology, the collapse of the Classic Maya and the prophecy as seen by Maya elders.

It’s available on Amazon.com, iTunes and Nook, in e-format and paperback. Check out Kitchel’s website at: JeanineKitchel.com.
